Nitish Kumar Is Jealous Of Narendra Modi
Nitish Kumar, the Bihar Chief Minister is very much jealous of Narendra Modi, his counterpart in Gujarat. Nitish has been repeatedly attacking Modi and opposing his candidature for the Prime Minister’s post. Why is Nitish jealous of Modi? This is because of Modi’s many achievements which have catapulted Gujarat to the top position among the States in India.
Gujarat Has Progressed In All Areas
It is wrong to say that Gujarat has registered improvement in one or two areas. In fact there is no area in which Gujarat has not progressed. Education, drinking water supply, agriculture,
industrial progress, urban development, rural development, exports, development of science and technology – in whatever angle you look at, Gujarat attracts deeper attention in every area. Gujarat has registered a surplus in many areas. But Gujarat is not satisfied with this achievement. It is not resting on its laurels but is focusing on earning still more surplus. The reason for this attitude is that Gujarat does not think only about itself. It thinks for the whole of India. When India attained independence in 1947, there was no state by name Gujarat. It was a part of the Bombay Presidency then. In 1956, States were created based on language. Even at that time Gujarat was not created. Gujarat was born because of continuous agitations only on 1st May 1960. Right from independence in 1947 to 1995, Congress ruled Gujarat. After the emergency, Indira Gandhi was defeated and Morarji Desai, belonging to Gujarat, became the Prime Minister of India in 1977. But even at that time Gujarat was ruled by the Congress Party. In 1995, BJP wrested control of the power from Congress in Gujarat. Keshubai Patel became the first BJP Chief Minister in Gujarat. But a split in BJP precipitated assembly elections in Gujarat in 1998. BJP once again was voted to power. Again Keshubai Patel became the Chief Minister.
Modi Is Facing Elections Again
But opposition to Keshubai Patel built-up because of setbacks to the BJP in the by-elections. In 2001, Keshubai Patel resigned from the Chief Minister post, paving way for Narendra Modi to take over the reins. Modi faced crisis after crisis immediately on assuming office. First the Godhra train mishap incident followed by the pogrom against the Muslims as retaliation by the Hindus discredited his regime. Modi had to submit his recommendation to the Governor to dissolve the government. In December 2002, Modi faced assembly elections. In that election, Modi captured more seats than in 1998 and became the Chief Minister again. He won again in 2007. Modi has earned the title as the long time Chief Minister of Gujarat. Modi is facing elections again in December this year (2012).
Towering Leaders of Gujarat
Gujarat registered remarkable progress in the last eleven years of Modi’s rule. Nobody including his opponents can deny this. Even the Muslims and Christians in Gujarat accept this as a fact. But many people say that even before Modi came to power, Gujarat was registering progress in many fields of activity. Gujarati people are by nature interested in nationalism and development of their state. Gujarat had produced honest and able leaders in the past like Mahatma Gandhi, Vallabhai Patel, Morarji Desai, K M Munshi and others. As these leaders were selfless and worked honestly and sincerely, quality of social and public life in Gujarat had not deteriorated as in other states in India.
Gujarat Is Number One in Many Fields
In 1970, a satellite city named Gandhinagar was created 20 km from Ahmedabad and it was made as the capital of Gujarat. There are no traffic signals in Gandhinagar city. People handle traffic themselves without any accidents. No vehicle attempts
to overtake another vehicle. All the roads in Gandhinagar have four lanes or six lanes and are very broad. Therefore there is no traffic jam in this city. Milk Cooperative Society was formed in Gujarat called Amul. It became popular throughout India and is a pioneer in this field. Gujarat stands number one in India in agriculture. But Gujarat experienced a problem of less quantity of ground water and canal water. Due to this, drought struck Gujarat often in the past. Ladies had to walk 5-7 km for fetching drinking water to their homes. There was scarcity of electricity and even the quality of electricity supplied was not upto the mark. Gujarat lagged behind in girls’ education. Road facilities were not adequate and their quality was also not sound. But under Narendra Modi, all these defects faded away in the last eleven years. Now there are separate facilities for ground water and drinking water.
No Gujarati Purchases Stabilizers for TV and Fridge
There is no shortage of electricity in Gujarat. Electricity is supplied for 24 hours a day. Electricity is supplied for agriculture through a separate feeder. Gujarat also sells electricity to 16 other states. What is even more praiseworthy is that the electricity is available with good quality. No Gujarati purchases stabilizers along with television or refrigerators. Gujarat has registered remarkable progress in education. Girls are learning in increasing number. There are many speciality universities functioning in Gujarat. There are many express highways in Gujarat. Gujarat has even broadened National Highways.

How all these things were achieved? It is because of Narendra Modi’s focus and dedication. After reading the above facts, I think one can understand the reason behind Nitish Kumar’s jealousy. Even though Nitish Kumar has done much for Bihar compared to his predecessors Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi, his achievements pale into insignificance compared to that of Modi’s.
Modi to Become the Prime Minister of India In 2014
There are six crore people living in Gujarat. This forms 5% of Indian population. Gujarat has an area of 196024 sq km. This is 6% of total land surface of India. In readymade garments, Gujarat’s share is 25%. Gujarat contributes 25% in manufacture of medicines, 27% in groundnut production, 30% in natural gas, 35% in petrochemicals, 41% in chemicals, 66% in salt production and 90% in soda production. If Modi remains in power for another twenty five years uninterrupted, Gujarat will be the most prosperous and peaceful place in the whole world. But unfortunately for the Gujaratis, Narendra Modi will be the Chief Minister only for the next two years. He is likely to be elevated as the Prime Minister of India in 2014. But Gujarat’s loss is rest of India’s gain. This is because Narendra Modi will make the whole India prosperous with his rich administrative experience, involvement, focus, dedication, concentration, sincerity and sense of purpose. Long live Narendra Modi, long live Gujarat.
